Kevin and I have over 20 years of memories with Walt, from being a part of he and Jody's (my mother) wedding, traveling together, celebrating birthdays, Thanksgivings, Christmases, and most every other holiday, and just getting together for a good meal at either of our homes, wherever they were, or discovering a new menu somewhere out. Walt was a part of our family all of these years, and we had the pleasure of spending the last 9 years with he and my mother near us in Colorado.
Walt took part in helping us build the cabin on a cold Thanksgiving weekend, and we all spent many good times there afterwards -- ice skating in Keystone, shopping in Breckenridge, boating on Lake Dillon, Kevin's 50th birthday, shoveling the snow, walking the neighborhood, and watching old movies by the fireplace.
We traveled with Walt and my mom to several places over the years, making lasting memories we'll always treasure. Pacific Grove, Reno, Virginia City, Santa Fe, Taos, Gold Canyon, Italy, Washington DC, Durango, and I'm sure we are leaving out other destinations that aren't coming to mind.
Walt enjoyed our grandkids, and was truly a sincere part of our family. We have stories, we have memories, we will always have our love for him and all that he was to us. We will miss him always and are grateful for the years we had with him. Attached is the last photo anyone has of him, celebrating Kevn's retirement dinner with the family.
We spent this past Mother's Day with him never knowing it would be our last visit, but we're happy to remember how good he was feeling that day.
Here's to you Walt, may you rest in peace knowing how much you were loved.
