Obituary for Margie Dale Steele

Margie Dale Steele
Margie Dale (Spaid) Steele was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 7, 1931, to Albert “Ted” Spaid and Juanita (Hefley) Spaid. Margie attended Limon Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1949. While in high school Margie was active in many activities but especially excelled at baton competition. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs. She enjoyed teaching ballet and modern dance to members of the community.
Margie married Roy L. “Johnny” Steele June 11, 1950. They made their home in Limon, Colorado where Margie began raising two children, John Dale and Joyce Ann. Joyce Ann was born premature with Cerebral Palsy and Margie began her life long career as a caretaker and best friend to Joyce Ann.
The family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1961 in order for Joyce to receive specialty orthopedic surgery, care and exercise. In addition to caring for Joyce and helping Jay with his “must have“ paper route Margie was employed as a receptionist for a local doctor.
After seven years in Arizona the family moved back to Colorado in order to be closer to the family. After a brief stay in Colorado Springs the family settled in Fort Morgan, Colorado, where Margie counseled both Jay and Joyce through their teen age years and was employed at the First National Bank of Fort Morgan.
In 1980 Margie, Roy and Joyce returned to Scottsdale. and Margie was employed as a receptionist at Santa Barbara Engineering firm in Scottsdale.
In 1988 Margie’s first and only granddaughter, Stephanie Joyce Steele was born which precipitated their move back to Colorado in 1992. Margie then devoted her life to caring for Joyce Ann and spoiling her favorite granddaughter.
