The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Bonnie Plegge can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Memories of Aunt Bonnie

I adored and admired Aunt Bonnie from the start.  Her quiet and gentle nature, kind and welcoming spirit, and of course her delightful sense of humor - often catching me off-guard, which made any situation all the funnier.  She was one of the most lovely and delightful people I have ever known.

Bonnie was the consummate hostess, always making us feel welcome in her home.  Her table lovingly set with a lively array of Fiestaware atop beautiful linen, and often with the menu of the feast to come written and carefully placed on the table to pique our anticipation.  I will never forget the love and joy that went into meals at Aunt Bonnie’s.  I remember these occasions and aspire to bring the same to my own table when welcoming guests to this day.

The best moments were the stories, which were plentiful.  Some of my favorite times were sitting around the table after a delicious feast and listening for hours.  Uncle Bob the main storyteller, and Aunt Bonnie peppering the tale with interjections in a quiet and at times wickedly funny manner.  She was the perfect foil to Uncle Bob, yet could certainly stand on her own.  One of my favorite evenings was when she told us her story.

When I remember Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Bob, I always think of the genuine love and kindness they showed one another in a thousand simple gestures.  I’d never seen two people who loved each other so much and so truly enjoyed one another’s company.

So - while my heart may be heavy for Bonnie’s family and friends, as well as for myself, this same heart rejoices in the thought of she and Uncle Bob together again, on the other side, enjoying one another and hosting one heck of a hootenanny.

For me - I will continue to hold Aunt Bonnie in my heart.  I will remember her when I get a piece of Fiestaware down from the kitchen cabinet.  I will remember her when I set a special table for family and friends, instilling love to make it beautiful and authentic.  I will remember her when a surprising and hilarious comment catches me off guard, and I will especially remember her when I indulge in a piece of particularly fine and decadent chocolate.

I dedicate every Moonstruck chocolate in my future to you, and will remember you always Aunt Bonnie.  With much love.
